St. Louis
Grand Prix Powerboat Races are revving up
For the 37th Annual Event
St.
Louis, MO January 9, 2008
The
St. Louis Grand Prix Powerboat Races have finalized the date
for 2008. The races will be held on August 2nd and 3rd, 2008, at
Creve Coeur Lake. BUD LIGHT will be the title sponsor and Mercury
Marine will be supporting the event as well.
This
will be the 37th year that the Concord Village Lions Club
has organized the event, and the Professional Firefighters of
Eastern Missouri, Local 2665, will be assisting them again in
2008.
Concord Village Lions Member, and
Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and Motorsports Hall of Fame of America
member, Bill Seebold is the Chairman of the event.
“I brought the idea of running a boat
race as a fundraiser to the members of the Concord Village Lions
Club almost 40 years ago. We have raised well over $2,000,000
because of the St. Louis race, all for local charities. Our Lions
members have put in an amazing amount of effort over the years, and
I am very excited about the 2008 event” said Bill Seebold.
Ken Meadows, Business Manager for IAFF
Local 2665 added, “ We enjoyed the opportunity to help with the St.
Louis Grand Prix, many of our members came out over the weekend last
summer to help with concessions, first aid, and race safety. The
comments were all positive, and we our ready to help in 2008. We
will have several pieces of equipment on display, including a fire
safety demonstration for the kids.”
The 37th annual St.
Louis Grand Prix Powerboat Races will feature drivers from all
over the USA, and internationally. Classes participating will be
the CHAMP Boats, also know as CHAMP1, the CHAMP2 or SST 120’s, and
the CHAMP3 or SST 45’s. For more information on the St. Louis race,
